Niti Foundation  provides fellowship to Nepali organizations and individuals to conduct innovative policy research and contest ideas.
This program provides a platform for policy dialogue at the national and sub-national levels in Nepal and in disseminating the findings of Niti-funded investigations such that Nepali policy discourses.

Niti has currently awarded the fellowship to Mr. Bihari Krishna Shrestha and Mr. Kashish Das Shrestha.

  1. Mr. Bihari Krishna Shrestha:
    The fellowship was awarded to Mr. Shrestha to draw lessons from the successful users’ group models in Nepal, particularly in forestry, safe motherhood, and small farmers’ cooperatives and to generate replicable knowledge to be applied to other sectors. Mr. Shrestha, a former senior bureaucrat with the Government of Nepal, has more than four decade of experience in this area and had been a close resource person in the diagnostic study of policy process in Nepal. The title of his research is “Conceptual anchors of successful community based initiatives in Nepal: A policy quest for nationwide replication.”

  2. Mr. Kashish Das Shrestha:
    The fellowship was awarded to Mr. Shrestha to conduct a research entitled – “Policy development for sustainable community/micro grids by decentralizing energy production and distribution to a household level through Feed-in-Tariff.” Mr. Shrestha has been working for more than a decade in print, broadcast, and digital/online media. He has dedicated considerable amount of time and resources to continue his focus on issues of energy and environment with a policy angle. His work under this fellowship complements Niti’s own work on rapid hydropower development in Nepal.
