This report is based on a survey that was carried out in 2016 covering 20 districts where hydropower projects are being built. It identifies the baseline scenario of Nepal’s hydropower development and relevant socio-economic conditions of the areas affected by hydropower development. This paper aims to reduce resource-based conflict in the hydropower sector by serving as a basis for tracking the impact of hydropower development on local communities. Analysis in this report is based on primary sources of information.
