This report provides basic information regarding the hydropower sector and some ideas for establishing a favorable environment for state, public, and private-sector actors moving forward. Nepal has great potential for hydropower development beyond its current installed capacity due to the nature of the country’s rivers and topography, but a variety of political, economic, social, and environmental factors have retarded hydropower development.
