Surendra Bahadur Shah is a security expert leading Niti Foundation’s work on security sector reform. With nearly three decades in the Nepal Police, he retired as an Additional Inspector General in 2017, having also served as Executive Director of the Nepal Police Academy. After retiring from Nepal Police, Mr Shah served as an advisor to Nepal’s Minister of Home Affairs. Internationally, Mr. Shah contributed to UN missions in New York and Bosnia-Herzegovina. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Asia Pacific Chapter. Mr. Shah holds a graduate of the FBI National Academy and a Bachelor of Science from Tribhuvan University.
