In collaboration with the University of New South Wales and the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in Cambodia, Niti Foundation is supporting the development of a longer-term strategy for the accompaniment of community safety actors in fragile, conflict-affected states in the Indo-Pacific. The trilateral partnership is testing fresh approaches to regional South-South developmental partnerships with a focus on supporting research and capacity building by local expert organisations.
With funding from the Australia Civil-Military Centre, an initial activity is supporting the assessment of challenges and successes in provisioning safety for communities in several conflict-affected, newly autonomous and newly federated contexts, including The Philippines, Myanmar, Vanuatu, and Nepal. The findings from this work will inform policymakers, stimulate cross-context learning and exchanges and inform a longer-term strategy for the accompaniment of regional community safety actors.
